A Meter Changeout
Changing your metering technology doesn’t
have to be intimidating. Here’s how it’s done:
Assembly
Gather key people (e.g., public works director, finance director, electric supervisor) and determine
the city’s product and data needs.
Evaluation
Evaluate available products in the marketplace. DSG Metering Technology is a good place to start.
Demonstration/Presentation
View a demonstration and/or a presentation of the desired products to see proof of concept. Invite
all key members to observe an installation, view modules and see how the system will work.
Purchase
Create a specification summary to detail what the city wants and invite vendors to bid on it in some
fashion. Choose a vendor and start the project.
Mike McNabb
Northern Minnesota Territory Manager
Mike McNabb joined DSG in 2003 as a territory
manager for northern Minnesota. He spends much
of his time helping utilities in northern Minnesota
(including northern Twin Cities suburbs) choose
AMR solutions that best fit their applications. He is
experienced in all types of AMR systems, including
water, gas and electric.
McNabb was first involved with some of DSG
Metering Technology’s key members in the late
1980s. He, along with Metering Technology Group
Manager David Scheerer and Sales Manager
Steve Mereness, worked together at a waterworks
company. In 1990, McNabb went on to sell mobile
workforce software, and a little more than ten
years later, he eventually reunited with Scheerer
and Mereness at DSG.
Whereas McNabb is very comfortable in the
metering industry, his customers are what
make him feel at home. “I really appreciate the
relationships I have developed,” smiles McNabb.
“Dealing with different people on different levels
makes my job exciting, and nothing feels better
than being able to offer a beneficial solution to my
customers’ problems.”
