Just The Right Size
If we’ve never met, let me start by saying that I’m
pretty tall. Tall enough to have played basketball
for the better part of my life. Tall enough so that
I often visit clothing stores that specialize in sizes
for people my height. People sometimes tell me
that they wish they were as tall as me. When I’m
shopping for a vehicle, I almost always wish I was
six inches shorter. Either way, my height has always
made me sensitive to how things fit.
Just as in our lives, some business relationships
can be a better fit than others. There are times
when big is better. For example, almost any time
that you need to buy supplies, it pays to have a
relationship with a company that buys in large
volumes. As they always say, there is strength in
numbers.
On the other hand, dealing with a company that
is too big can be intimidating. Sometimes, when a
business reaches a certain size, they can lose track
of the little things that made them successful. It’s
always nice to have business relationships with
companies that are small enough to know you by
your first name and to recognize that your life is
based on much more than an account number.
At DSG we pride ourselves on being just the
right size for our customers, even when their
needs change frequently. In other words, you
may need to put our buying power or business
contacts to work for you one day, but you’ll value
our sense of small-town service every day. It’s a
balance that we work hard on, because we want
every one of our customers to feel that DSG is the

In the past decade, DSG has grown significantly.
We’ve broadened our service area, deepened
our product offerings and expanded our service
options. That can be disorienting for longtime
customers who think of us only in terms of
their own discipline, whether they are electricians,
plumbers or any of the other trades we work with.
That’s why it’s important for me to say this: DSG
has not lost its focus. In fact, it’s not even accurate
to say that DSG has broadened its focus. Instead,
I think it would be best described by saying that
each of our core groups has its own focus.
This company is made up of unique groups that
are staffed with experienced professionals, each
focused on a single industry. Our Electrical Group
works with electrical contractors. Our Mechanical
Group helps plumbers and HVAC contractors.
Each of DSG’s groups has their own staff who
specialize in knowing your industry inside and out,
whether your needs involve electrical, plumbing,
HVAC, communications, waterworks, automation,
metering or even filtration products. They may
share knowledge, technology and the commitment
to customer satisfaction that comes with employee
ownership, but each of them is also dedicated to
serving their own unique customers.
In other words, no matter how DSG changes,
we’re organized to be the right fit for your
business. We have the strength to support you, the
