Today, Owatonna Public Utilities serves more
than 24,000 residents of beautiful Owatonna
(which residents often refer to as the heartbeat
of a greater community known as Southern
Minnesota). With 11,300 electric, 10,000 natural
gas and 9,400 water customers, it’s easy to see
why the folks at Owatonna Public Utilities are
glad to have a metering partner that they’ve
been able to rely on for a long time.
“DSG Metering Technology has been with us
through our transitions to get us what we
needed,” says Pelot. “They never quit
surprising me with how well they are able
to take a concept or idea and bring it to life to
work for us. They provide us with more than
just products. They provide us with complete
meter reading systems.”
Owatonna is a growing community, with
150-200 new homes being built every year. As the
community grows, so does the need for
Owatonna Public Utilities to install more meters
and move its technology forward. That’s why it
invested in some of GE’s new electric metering
technology last year. So far, Owatonna Public
Utilities’ plan to stay on the cutting edge is
working out well. “It’s been a year,” says Pelot,
“and so far, everything has worked great.”
When Pelot competes in Cowboy Fast Draw, it’s
whoever hits the target first that wins the point.
He has to think quickly and keep his eye on the
target. In much the same way, Owatonna Public
Utilities is always looking towards the future and
keeping its eye on its goal of complete customer
satisfaction. “We want to make sure we stay on
top of technology for our customers’ sake, and
for our own sake,” Pelot says.
Whatever the future holds for metering
technology and Owatonna Public Utilities –
whether it’s a new line of meters or new computer
software – Owatonna Public Utilities can count
on the experts at DSG Metering Technology
to provide it with complete solutions, just
as they have been for the past ten years.
