ELECTRICAL
An EXTREMEly Good Customer
More than four decades ago, Chuck Schwieters
came to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to work in the
warehouse for an electrical contractor. One
afternoon his boss approached him and asked if
he wanted to try his hand at sales. His reply:
“I’ll try anything once!” As Schwieters would
eventually find out, it never hurts to try
something new, and oftentimes it can pay off in
big ways – including a part in one of America’s
most popular TV shows. But more on that later.
Schwieters found that he enjoyed his new sales
role and was, in fact, quite good at it. After a
time, he even recruited his cousin, Mike Wander,
and the two of them helped grow the business
significantly. Soon after, Schwieters decided it
was time to try contracting on his own. He knew
he would need the right electrician by his side, so
he contacted Wander to join him again. He also
knew he needed a strong relationship with the
right supply company, so he called on DSG.
The plan for the new business was for
Schwieters to take care of the sales, estimating
and the office, and Wander to manage the
crew. In addition to Wander, three other
electricians joined them, and in 1984, Lazer
Electric was born.

Today, Lazer Electric has 34 employees and
provides residential and light-commercial
electrical services. “We made a niche for
ourselves in residential construction,” Schwieters
reports. “We really excel at wiring single-family
houses and townhomes.”
Lazer Electric teamed up with DSG to help out
ABC TV's “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”
